OG+ Sound Scenes

IMSE’s sound scenes are engaging, concept-rich illustrations aligned with IMSE's OG+ kindergarten scope and sequence. Sound scenes support phonics instruction, simultaneously building oral language and vocabulary. Each sound scene highlights a targeted phonics concept and includes a teacher guide with keywords represented in the illustrations and, when available, their Spanish cognates. Initially, teachers can use sound scenes in whole-group settings to prompt students to identify objects with the target sound, practice complete sentences, and build vocabulary. In subsequent lessons, sound scenes can reinforce phonics concepts while developing syntax, semantics, and comprehension through oral dialogue and small-group instruction, providing scaffolded support for diverse learners and facilitating an integrated approach to literacy development.
