IMSE Asynchronous Courses
IMSE offers asynchronous courses to educators who are looking for professional development, but are unable to attend a live-virtual or in-person training due to their busy schedule. These courses can be started, paused, and resumed over time so that educators can work at their own pace.

IMSE Asynchronous Course Descriptions
IMSE Phonological Awareness Digital Course
$400
Designed for: General and Special Education teachers grades Pre-K through 5th
To Teach: Grades Pre-K through 5th
Length: 12.5 Hours
IMSE Impact Phonological Awareness Training is offered in an asynchronous version that is hands-on, interactive, and delivered digitally to your imse.com profile. Teachers will learn to evaluate students in alphabet awareness, including letter recognition and sound recognition. Please note that while the training itself is delivered digitally, physical materials will be delivered to participants so they can complete the course.
Participants must take and pass a quiz accessible through their imse.com account via the 'My Trainings' tab to receive a certificate of achievement for this course. Participants will receive two opportunities to take the quiz. If, after two attempts, the quiz is failed, please contact IMSE for the next steps.
Participants who receive a passing score on their final assessment are eligible to purchase 1 hour of graduate credit through Ashland University.

IMSE Writing/Grammar Digital Course

Designed for: Educators grades 3rd through 6th, Middle or High School Interventionists
To Teach: Grades 3rd through 6th
Length: 5 Hours
IMSE’s Writing and Grammar online video course provides in-depth instruction and practice on grammar and composition over the course of 6 hours. The topics include parts of speech, punctuation, capitalization, sentence writing, the writing process, paragraph writing, and essay writing. A digital manual and practice packet (PDFs) are included. Six-month access to this online video course gives you the flexibility to learn at your own pace. Learn from an IMSE Level 4 Master Instructor! The course is ideal for teachers in grades 3-6 as well as middle school or high school intervention.

IMSE Dyslexia Overview Course

Designed for: Educators needing an introduction on dyslexia
Length: 2 Hours
This two-hour asynchronous course is designed for educators to become acquainted with dyslexia, as defined by the New Jersey Administrative Code. The myths of dyslexia are dispelled by looking at the reading brain and the research that tells us how to support a learner with dyslexia. This session provides multimodal learning strategies that best service students. The importance of the Five Essentials of Reading is emphasized, with demonstrations of instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary. There is an 11-question multiple-choice assessment that follows the video.
Intervention & Support for Struggling Readers Course

Designed for: IMSE-Trained Educators working with Intervention Students
To Teach: Grades K through 6th
Length: 9 Hours
This course is designed to provide knowledge and strategies for intensifying instruction in reading and spelling. This course supplements the Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Plus course by helping participants identify areas of need for struggling readers and the strategies and instruction best suited for intervention. This asynchronous course is approximately 9 hours long.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to identify the importance of building automaticity in the subskills of reading for fluency and comprehension; use data to identify reading issues in order to provide interventions that are differentiated for intensity and focus; use strategies for building intellectual capacity in students; carefully monitor student performance, and provide timely affirmations and feedback.
